Hello, my name is Michael Smetana. I'm a dedicated human-centered behavioral and social science researcher and educator, committed to making a meaningful impact. Thriving in collaborative and dynamic environments, I am driven by diverse perspectives to address complex issues in human health and wellbeing.

With over three years of experience in biocultural medical anthropology at an R1 research university, I've immersed myself in the intricate intersections of human behavior, culture, and health. Equipped with a diverse toolkit encompassing literature reviews, advanced statistical software, and more, I diligently explore the nuances of our collective human experience.

Beyond academia, I've ventured into international non-profit work, collaborating on evidence-based educational health programs that integrate indigenous healing practices with modern biomedical approaches. This endeavor aims to empower communities globally. Additionally, I've contributed to clinical research at the Mayo Clinic's Human Integrative and Environmental Physiology Lab, witnessing firsthand the transformative potential of leading-edge data science and technology in addressing critical health issues.

Rooted in a desire to contribute to a better and more equitable world, I'm driven to collaborate with like-minded professionals in anthropology, public health, and related fields. Let's connect and explore how our shared passions can drive meaningful change together, unraveling new insights into human behavior, culture, and health.
